This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Stay updated on significant global events and the latest entertainment trends, presenting topics in fresh and engaging ways.

• Regularly monitor TikTok and other social media platforms to uncover stories ahead of competitors.

• Craft clear pitches and provide context for writers.

• Delegate stories to both staff and freelance writers.

• Develop narratives and headlines for syndication on platforms like MSN, Facebook, and SmartNews.

• Analyze performance metrics and utilize data to enhance pitches.

• Create and document discovery workflows to improve pitching processes among writers and editors.

• Ensure story accuracy, appropriately credit creators, and treat subjects with fairness.

• Work collaboratively with the broader editorial team on stories that require additional focus, follow-ups, or investigative work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as an assigning, commissioning, news, trending, or social editor in a dynamic digital media setting, or substantial experience as a self-pitching writer.

• A genuine passion for TikTok and social culture, coupled with a keen intuition for what resonates with readers.

• Experience in syndication and/or social media is highly advantageous.

• Exceptional headline writing skills that are engaging yet truthful.

• Proficient in analyzing traffic data and leveraging it to inform editorial choices.

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume pitching setting.

• Strong grasp of ethical journalism practices.

• Comprehensive understanding of US culture and audience dynamics.

• Resume and cover letter submission required.

• Submission of three recent social posts or stories, each including a headline and explanation, is required.
