This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Develop and implement the China development strategy for designated pharmaceutical assets.
• Ensure that individual development assets contribute value to the Chinese pharmaceutical market through swift and extensive pipeline development.
• Take into account market potential and commercialization factors in development strategies.
• Lead, facilitate, and coordinate all development activities in China via the Asset Strategy Team.
• Promote continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle of the asset.
• Create integrated development strategies for China that align with regulatory requirements and commercial demands.
• Introduce new products to the market using the most efficient and cost-effective methods.
• Provide insights to global Asset Strategy Teams and incorporate the China strategy into the global development framework.
• Align program development strategies with stakeholders from China commercial, JAPAC, Intercon, and the Asset Strategy Team.
• Represent the local Asset Strategy Team in global discussions and pertinent decision-making bodies in China.
• Establish asset-related goals with team members and offer regular performance evaluations.
• Maintain team motivation while promoting trust and transparency.
• Advance assets efficiently while ensuring quality and budget adherence.
• Define development schedules and key milestones.
• Drive the execution of the asset strategy in China by leading both local and global teams.
• Develop strategies to manage, mitigate, and resolve project risks within China.
• Hold Asset Strategy Team members accountable for meeting timelines and budget constraints.
• Cultivate relationships with global Asset Strategy Leadership.
• Contribute to the China portfolio strategy and facilitate alignment among cross-affiliate stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives across AbbVie to enhance leadership capabilities and improve team performance.
• A Bachelor's Degree in a life science field is required.
• An advanced degree is highly preferred (e.g., MD, PhD, MBA).
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in drug development within a pharmaceutical or biotech environment; 10+ years is preferred.
• Experience in Neuroscience and/or Immunology is preferred.
• Strong capabilities in strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, executive function, and problem-solving.
• Ability to quickly assimilate new information and apply it to asset strategies.
• Proven experience in leading a team within a cross-functional setting.
• Capability to exercise sound judgment and craft practical solutions for complex cross-functional challenges.
• Competence in seeking stakeholder advice and making informed choices in uncertain or incomplete data scenarios.
• Ability to inspire and motivate team members across different functional areas and lead through influence.
• Skills in delegating responsibilities and decision-making effectively.
• Willingness and ability to respectfully challenge team members and functions while managing conflict.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
