This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Cultivate business relationships with current Members and designated Suppliers.
• Discover and secure new membership prospects within the assigned territory.
• Facilitate connections between Suppliers and Members.
• Advocate for Capricorn's products, services, and events.
• Enhance the value that Members derive from their association with Capricorn.
• Strategize and execute an independent field-based schedule with support from leadership.
• Allocate approximately 80% of time to engage with Members, prospects, and Suppliers.
• Oversee administrative tasks, follow-up, and reporting duties.
• Manage a portfolio of around 350 Members, including those in regional territories.
• Expand existing business while maintaining consistent communication with priority Members.
• Establish a robust local network and identify commercial opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to advance solutions.
• Engage in prospecting, which constitutes roughly 10–20% of the role.
• Travel approximately every 6–8 weeks, typically for one week at a time.
• Demonstrated experience in business development, relationship management, or high-level customer service.
• Strong aptitude for business development and opportunity identification.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong personal organization, attention to detail, and administrative skills.
• Capability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and maintain an efficient field-based schedule.
• Commercial insight, effective negotiation skills, and a pragmatic problem-solving approach are highly valued.
• Background in the automotive, industrial, or manufacturing industries.
• Familiarity with the automotive parts and service sector or the automotive supply chain is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience in a Business Development Manager role or a previous position within a dual-sided member-and-supplier community is preferred.
• Confidence in collaborating with suppliers and internal specialists to create customer solutions and sales opportunities.
• Established local network or a proven ability to quickly develop one.
• A current valid driver’s license is essential.
• Relevant qualifications in business management or sales and/or prior experience in a field-based autonomous role are preferred.
• Field-based autonomy - Organize and manage your week, balancing visits with Members and Suppliers alongside focused administration and follow-up.
