Appraisal Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee a dynamic portfolio of appraisal assignments from the initial engagement to the delivery of the final report.

• Manage client intake processes, liaise with specialists, handle scheduling, track timelines, and oversee invoicing.

• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing status updates, addressing procedural inquiries, and managing expectations.

• Draft, revise, and compile appraisal reports that comply with USPAP standards.

• Integrate specialist valuations, market analysis, and data on comparable sales.

• Collaborate with internal and external specialists to gather valuations, necessary documentation, and specific expertise relevant to the objects.

• Conduct and assist with on-site examinations of personal property collections, including photography and cataloging tasks.

• Keep precise project records within CRM and project management systems.

• Identify and report status changes, scope modifications, and potential risks to timelines.

• Participate in process enhancement initiatives, template creation, and workflow improvements under the guidance of the Director of Appraisals.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three to five years of experience in personal property appraisal, art research, or a related field in art services.

• Valid USPAP certification (15-Hour USPAP or its equivalent).

• Professional designation (ASA, AAA, or an equivalent) either in progress or completed.

• Excellent organizational abilities with a proven track record of managing multiple active project files and meeting deadlines.

• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear appraisal narratives and professional correspondence with clients.

• Experience in one or more categories of personal property, such as fine art, decorative art, jewelry, silver, furniture, collectibles, or similar fields.

• Proficient in working within technology-driven workflows and digital collection management platforms.

• Knowledge of auction databases and art market research tools like Invaluable, AskArt, MutualArt, Artnet, or similar resources.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.

• Comfortable using CRM systems and project management software.

• Willingness to travel for on-site examinations as required by project demands.
