Application & Technical Support Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Advocate for the utilization of HarbisonWalker International's refractory products.

• Deliver technical assistance for customer inquiries, quotations, internal and external training, complaint resolution, failure analysis, and R&D activities.

• Assist in the development of new product concepts and projects.

• Assess application requirements and suggest, modify, or enhance lining designs and installation techniques.

• Play a role in executing product promotions and marketing strategies as a collaborative team member.

• Support segment planning initiatives and prepare for, as well as participate in, industry tradeshows.

• Conduct market analysis and contribute to the assessment of the product portfolio.

• Discover and cultivate new or emerging business opportunities.

• Provide strategic sales and technical support to customers.

• Aid in product rationalization, portfolio modifications, and shape standardization efforts.

• Contribute to the pricing and positioning strategies of products.

• Collaborate with HarbisonWalker International’s engineering team to address issues and deliver customer solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, such as Ceramics, Metallurgy, Chemical, Materials Science, or a related discipline.

• Familiarity with industry and customer applications, general refractory science, and marketing/technical competencies.

• Additional knowledge of product lines, characteristics, construction, installations, customer applications, estimating, quality control, manufacturing, and sales skills will be advantageous.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

• Capable of working effectively within a team-oriented environment.

• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and business problem-solving abilities.

• Project management skills, with the capacity to coordinate projects across multiple departments.

• Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in technical, Research and Development, or commercial refractory roles.

• This position requires domestic travel, estimated at 30% of the time.

• Must be able to meet the specified physical and environmental requirements, which include lifting up to 50 pounds, possessing accurate near and distant vision, and working in both office and industrial settings.
