This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assist in the execution of engineering studies focused on generator and governor performance, controls, and grid requirements.
• Create, verify, and validate electrical load flow and dynamic models that represent generating facilities.
• Provide support for testing and data collection activities at power plants.
• Evaluate test and simulation outcomes to identify inconsistencies and enhance models.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with seasoned engineers to diagnose technical issues and formulate solutions.
• Utilize industry-standard engineering software and tools, including PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD.
• Gradually take on more responsibility for technical tasks as expertise and experience grow.
• Travel to customer locations when necessary.
• Engage in projects related to conventional generation, renewable energy, energy storage, and the evolving requirements of the electrical grid.
• Acquire experience in engineering, testing, simulation, consulting, and customer interactions.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electric Power Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in Engineering and/or Product Management within the Power Generation sector.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
• GE Vernova does not sponsor work visas at the Bachelor's level, either currently or in the future.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
• 0 to 1 year of field experience with thermal power generation turbine and excitation control systems.
• Knowledge of electrical or electric power engineering, as well as conventional and renewable power plant design and operation.
• Proficiency in load flow, dynamic, short circuit, and protection modeling and analysis.
• Familiarity with tools such as PSLF, PSS/E, PSCAD, MATLAB, MS Office, Visio, and MS Project.
• Experience through internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, or relevant engineering projects.
• Proven ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Capability to perform engineering analysis and design, develop engineering solutions collaboratively, and offer technical consulting services.
