JavaScript Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance and maintain applications that are accessible to the public, supporting the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center and The National Map.

• Acquire knowledge and enhance existing applications.

• Enhance functionality and the presentation of data.

• Diagnose and resolve issues.

• Identify effective methods for information flow within the environment.

• Utilize JavaScript for application development.

• Leverage AWS technologies to facilitate and automate cloud-based data workflows.

• Test and refine existing solutions.

• Optimize code efficiency and scalability.

• Collaborate in a technical setting to devise maintainable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to undergo and maintain a favorable adjudicated Public Trust investigation.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident for no less than 3 years.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 2 years of applicable experience in software or applications engineering.

• Proficient in JavaScript.

• Practical experience with the AWS SDK and AWS CLI.

• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, S3, and EC2.

• Understanding of version control, debugging, testing, algorithms, and data structures.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with Python is preferred.

• Experience with HTML, CSS, React, Angular, or other contemporary front-end technologies is preferred.

• Back-end development experience using Node.js or similar technologies is preferred.

• Familiarity with RESTful API design and integration is preferred.

• Additional experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments is preferred.

• Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, or related Esri technologies is preferred.
