API Gateway Engineer, Kong

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver product-specific engineering assistance for gateway configurations, plugins/policies, routing, certificates, runtime groups, developer portal setup, and environment promotion within Government-sanctioned parameters.

• Facilitate preparations for accelerated API migration waves, including test execution, defect resolution, rollback validation, and dual-run troubleshooting as permitted by the Government.

• Assist with EAG/API-gateway CI/CD integration touchpoints, GitOps/configuration-as-code artifacts, governance validation, and integration of observability and monitoring for the approved gateway product.

• Offer knowledge transfer, hold technical office hours, create configuration documentation, report on surge activity status, and provide completion evidence for Government acceptance.

• Deliver surge support when the IRS authorizes a new API gateway product and assesses the need for additional capacity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive product-specific experience with Kong Enterprise, Kong Konnect, or a similar API gateway platform, encompassing plugins/policies, developer portal configuration, GitOps, and observability integration.

• Support for API migration, including wave preparation, dual-run troubleshooting, rollback validation, and test execution in line with Government delivery timelines.

• Experience with CI/CD integration utilizing Government-owned DevSecOps platforms for gateway configuration deployment, without owning the CI/CD platform.

• Proficiency in knowledge transfer and technical documentation within a federal delivery environment.

• Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) is mandatory.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Must satisfy eligibility criteria for access to classified information and be capable of obtaining a government-issued security clearance.
