Android Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain high-performance native Android applications utilizing Kotlin.

• Incorporate intelligent functionalities such as chat, vision, voice, and recommendations through backend APIs.

• Design user experience patterns for real-time interactions, including streaming responses, progress indicators, retries, and handling partial failure states.

• Analyze and enhance app performance, memory usage, and battery efficiency.

• Establish telemetry, logging, and feedback mechanisms for ongoing model assessment and product refinement.

• Collaborate with ML and backend engineering teams to outline API contracts, protocols, and system behaviors.

• Maintain production quality, app security, and adhere to Google Play Store release standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in Android development using Kotlin.

• Hands-on experience integrating AI-driven features like LLMs, vision, or speech APIs into production applications.

• Strong expertise in asynchronous programming utilizing Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.

• Solid background with REST or gRPC APIs and structured data formats.

• Proven ability to create resilient mobile interfaces that handle latency, network instability, and dynamic model responses.

• Excellent debugging, memory management, and performance profiling abilities.

• Familiarity with on-device ML frameworks such as MLKit or TensorFlow Lite.

• History of publishing and maintaining production applications on the Google Play Store.
