Senior Android BSP Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Design and tailor AOSP-based platform software for embedded audio devices.

• Engage with Android BSP, HAL layers, native C/C++ components, JNI/NDK integration, and system-level services.

• Take part in Android version upgrades and ensure compatibility with the latest Android releases.

• Integrate and troubleshoot hardware interfaces, peripheral drivers, and components related to the Linux kernel.

• Diagnose platform issues associated with boot processes, performance, memory, power management, threading, IPC, and hardware communication.

• Assist with board bring-up and platform validation on ARM, Qualcomm-based, and various other embedded hardware architectures.

• Collaborate with hardware, software, and product teams to achieve stable embedded Android platforms.

• Review technical designs and code, providing mentorship to junior engineers as necessary.

• Explore complex engineering challenges, identify root causes, and deliver solutions from analysis to implementation and validation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in embedded software development.

• A minimum of 2 years working with Embedded Android, AOSP, or Android platform-level development.

• Proficient in C/C++ development for native, low-level, and performance-critical software.

• Practical experience with Android BSP, AOSP build systems, HAL architecture, HIDL/AIDL, Android.bp/Android.mk, Soong/Ninja, and system services.

• Familiarity with Android NDK, JNI, Binder, sockets, shared memory, or other IPC mechanisms.

• Solid understanding of embedded Linux, Linux kernel interfaces, device drivers, and hardware communication principles.

• Experience in debugging using ADB, GDB, Valgrind, Systrace/Perfetto, Wireshark, protocol analyzers, or similar tools.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, version control, and structured release/development workflows.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
