Android Developer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications utilizing Kotlin along with Jetpack Compose and contemporary Android architecture.

• Establish dependable Bluetooth Low Energy communication with wearable devices, which includes pairing, data transfer, and background synchronization.

• Develop and incorporate AI-driven functionalities using AWS Bedrock, while also exploring on-device capabilities like ML Kit and Gemini Nano.

• Integrate serverless backend APIs and create offline-first features with caching and synchronization through Room.

• Take ownership of and enhance the release pipeline, Gradle builds, CI/CD processes, Play Console testing tracks, and staged rollouts.

• Create unit and UI tests using JUnit, Compose UI testing, and Espresso.

• Ensure the reliability, performance, and battery efficiency of applications.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, designers, iOS developers, backend engineers, Support, and Product teams.

• Engage in Agile planning, reviews, and continuous delivery processes.

• Apply creative thinking to solve technical challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and deploying native Android applications using Kotlin.

• Proficient with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines / Flow, and dependency injection frameworks (Hilt or similar).

• In-depth understanding of the Android platform, including app lifecycle, background execution constraints, runtime permissions, and device and OS-version fragmentation.

• Experience with Android Bluetooth LE APIs or applications for connected devices and wearables is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with Health Connect, location services, or Room is a plus.

• Comfortable consuming REST APIs and collaborating closely with backend engineers.

• Exposure to AWS services (S3, serverless, Bedrock) is advantageous.

• Some knowledge of iOS or Swift is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Experience utilizing AI tools in personal development projects and a keen interest in integrating AI into products.

• An active desire to learn about new AI models and tools.

• A passion for learning, taking ownership, and diving into challenges.

• Creative problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking.

• A genuine interest in sports.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across product, design, and engineering teams.

• Evidence of personal or side projects, a Google Play app, open-source contributions, or other demonstrations of independent development work.
