This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Confirm patient medical insurance benefits by utilizing phone communication and online access to private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Assess the compatibility of insurance benefits with LifeStance procedures and appointments, including testing and specialized services.
• Secure pre-certification or authorization for procedures and input this information into the billing system software.
• Work collaboratively with providers and operations teams to deliver benefit information to patients.
• Generate cost estimates based on benefit information.
• Document information in medical records and distribute it to patients for their review.
• Execute data entry and complete necessary forms that detail patient benefits coverage.
• Notify office staff regarding uninsured, underinsured, and potential billing complications.
• Provide precise and comprehensive information on insurance benefits and log it in the billing system.
• Keep accurate verification documentation within patient electronic records and reporting tools.
• Act as a resource for other teams concerning patient benefits.
• Assist leadership with reporting requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical facility or medical office billing is required.
• Professional knowledge and understanding of insurance products and coverage types are essential.
• Experience with automated billing systems is preferred.
• Experience in training for business office activities is a plus.
• Capability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience interacting with insurance companies is necessary.
• Familiarity with various types of coverage and policies is important.
• Must possess awareness, inclusivity, sensitivity, humility, and experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities, and other cultural aspects.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, talk, hear, and walk as needed.
• Capacity to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Required to have close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
