Analyst II, Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of specific elements of monthly billing cycles, which includes monitoring work requests, coordinating dependencies, and facilitating the preparation and execution of bill runs.

• Manage billing readiness tracking while proactively identifying risks, gaps, and dependencies that may affect billing timelines or accuracy.

• Recognize projects and accounts nearing their first billing cycles, ensuring that all necessary billing, utility, and operational data is complete and ready for billing.

• Conduct independent investigations to resolve complex billing issues by analyzing data, pinpointing root causes, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Carry out thorough data validation, reconciliation, and quality control checks across billing, transfer, production, and utility data.

• Review and confirm billing adjustments, ensuring they are complete, accurate, properly documented, and resolved in a timely manner.

• Oversee utility data tracking and billing readiness activities, actively identifying any missing or inconsistent data that could affect billing.

• Execute post-billing reconciliation, data cleanup, and analysis to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of billing results.

• Analyze billing outcomes to spot anomalies, trends, and data issues that require further investigation or corrective measures.

• Create and maintain reports and analyses used for monitoring billing performance, data quality, and operational KPIs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address recurring issues and develop long-term solutions instead of relying on manual fixes.

• Seek opportunities to enhance billing processes, controls, reporting, and automation, and assist in the implementation of process improvements.

• Document billing procedures, requirements, and issue-resolution methods to enhance consistency and scalability.

• Act as a subject-matter expert on billing processes and data, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4+ years of experience in billing operations, finance operations, utility/energy, revenue operations, or a related analytical field.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong focus on detail and data accuracy.

• Capability to handle multiple priorities, work independently, and adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with systems like Salesforce, Zuora, Stripe, or similar platforms is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to clearly explain complex data and operational issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including experience with large datasets, lookup functions, pivot tables, and data validation.

• Proven ability to independently investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and drive them to resolution.

• Experience using SQL or other data analysis tools to analyze operational or billing data is preferred.

• Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and quality control methodologies.

• Demonstrated capability to identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to scalable solutions.

• Experience working across multiple teams and coordinating efforts cross-functionally.

• Background in the energy, utility, community solar, or renewable energy sectors is preferred.
