American Sign Language Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary related to the industry in which you are interpreting, particularly healthcare and medical terminology.

• Deliver all messages accurately and completely, ensuring no additions, omissions, or substitutions.

• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.

• Facilitate effective communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and clients by providing precise and thorough interpretations of messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Show eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is an advantage.

• International certifications within the healthcare sector are a plus (e.g., HIPAA).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, and BEI are significant assets.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.

• Have a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
