Ambulatory Surgery MRT Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Examine ambulatory surgery records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier details.

• Code surgical procedures along with related anesthesia, pathology, diagnostic, and professional services as directed.

• Confirm the validity of operative documentation, medical necessity, bundling edits, and code sequencing.

• Initiate compliant provider queries when operative or supporting documentation necessitates clarification.

• Address coding edits, rejections, audit findings, and identified documentation shortcomings.

• Fulfill contract standards regarding accuracy, productivity, timeliness, and data integrity.

• Utilize Oracle Health, Solventum CRS, CPRS, VistA, VIRR, and other authorized VA systems as needed.

• Safeguard patient information while adhering to HIPAA, the Privacy Act, VA security protocols, and relevant coding standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

• A current acceptable AHIMA or AAPC credential, such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CIC, must be maintained throughout employment.

• A minimum of two years of continuous professional coding experience in a similar VA Level 1A healthcare environment or an equivalent complex healthcare setting.

• Expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, E/M coding, modifiers, and compliant provider queries.

• Familiarity with Oracle Health coding workflows is essential.

• Knowledge of Solventum CRS, VistA, CPRS, and VIRR is preferred or required based on assigned duties.

• Capacity to meet VA standards for productivity, timeliness, data security, privacy, quality, and coding accuracy.

• Candidates must fulfill all VA suitability, background investigation, PIV, privacy, information security, and system access requirements.

• A favorable VA screening, initiation of a National Agency Check, PIV eligibility, and compliance with applicable ADP-sensitive access requirements are necessary.

• A current resume that documents qualifying education, credentials, systems proficiency, and at least two years of relevant coding experience is required.

• A copy of a current qualifying AHIMA or AAPC certification is needed.
