AI/ML Research Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct applied research focused on AI/ML-driven analytics utilizing advanced machine learning and optimization techniques to accelerate high-fidelity modeling and simulations.

• Create and implement prototypes that translate research findings into practical capabilities.

• Collaborate with team members to convert customer requirements into technical strategies, balancing innovation with practicality and implementation.

• Generate high-quality technical documentation, presentations, and briefings, and contribute to reports, proposals, whitepapers, and publications.

• Ensure robust system hygiene through Linux-based development, version control, containerization, reproducibility, and clean software practices.

• Quickly learn and incorporate new tools/technologies to keep up with the changing demands of customers and advancing research.

• Tackle complex challenges, develop optimization and AI/ML-driven solutions and software prototypes, and validate performance through hands-on evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience or a PhD with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Proficiency in machine learning and optimization methodologies.

• Practical experience with ML tools such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

• Familiarity with LLMs and agentic AI is advantageous.

• Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis.

• Background in developing surrogate models is a plus.

• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.

• Competency in Linux, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities (technical presentations and well-organized documentation).

• Ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, and produce concrete results in a research setting.

• US Citizenship is mandatory for this position.

• Willingness and eligibility to acquire a Secret clearance.

• The candidate must be prepared to travel to Basking Ridge, NJ as necessary, with expected travel around 25%.

• A history of peer-reviewed publications, patents, open-source contributions, or demonstrable research impact in relevant fields is preferred.

• A current security clearance is an advantage.
