AI Engineer – New Verticals

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the General Manager and initial customers to determine the technical requirements of the vertical.

• Develop reusable frameworks, integrations, tools, infrastructure, workflows, and a preliminary MVP for the new vertical.

• Make decisions regarding the architecture, distinguishing between platform-layer and vertical-specific tools.

• Establish the foundational technical playbook for future Field Development Engineers (FDEs).

• Lead initial customer interactions from technical scoping through to delivery and ongoing support after launch.

• Write robust and maintainable code that addresses customer challenges and builds into reusable infrastructure.

• Convert customer needs into sustainable systems.

• Recognize patterns, infrastructure deficiencies, and product opportunities from active engagements.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to enhance established capabilities into the core platform.

• Define the technical strategy and commercial direction of the vertical alongside the GM or Solutions Lead.

• Work with the Data Lab on domain-specific data and research inquiries.

• Team up with other FDEs on shared patterns, tools, and methodologies.

• Act as the technical advocate for the vertical as it evolves.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, including significant 0→1 contributions as a founding engineer, early technical lead, or builder in a highly uncertain environment.

• Strong engineering generalist skills with a focus on backend and data.

• Practical experience with Python and SQL.

• Comfortable working across infrastructure, application logic, and data systems.

• Capability to establish order in undefined situations and act swiftly without a clearly outlined roadmap.

• Strong technical judgment, particularly regarding short-term deliverables versus long-term architecture.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage directly with senior technical and business stakeholders.

• Ability to independently lead technical scoping discussions with customers and convert them into actionable execution plans.

• Previous experience as a founding engineer at a successful startup (preferred).

• Experience in extending an existing platform into a new domain or application (preferred).

• Proven history of transforming customer-specific projects into reusable internal infrastructure or product features (preferred).

• Familiarity with machine learning, natural language processing, or large language model-based systems (preferred).
