AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services utilizing modern engineering methodologies, established patterns, and reusable components.

• Construct and enhance cloud-based solutions on GCP that facilitate data ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval, and distribution.

• Play a role in solution design focusing on reliability and performance.

• Create and sustain REST APIs, encompassing versioning, documentation, backward compatibility, and system integration.

• Implement AI-driven features by incorporating approved AI services or models into applications.

• Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring strategies for AI.

• Diagnose and resolve application problems across various environments, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.

• Apply secure coding standards and comply with security and regulatory requirements.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes using DevOps practices.

• Establish observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, dashboards, alerts, and operational documentation/runbooks.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on releases, testing, and production challenges.

• Engage in architecture and design discussions as well as code reviews.

• Uphold team standards and mentor junior developers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing backend applications or services in Java.

• Practical experience with cloud services and deploying applications on GCP, or equivalent cloud experience with the ability to quickly adapt.

• Proficient in designing and implementing REST APIs, including authentication/authorization mechanisms and integration patterns.

• Experience in incorporating AI features into applications and a basic understanding of evaluation and monitoring concepts.

• Solid foundation in secure engineering principles, including least privilege access, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and a working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and release methodologies.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, including defect triage, performance optimization, and supporting applications with observability tools.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineering, QA, DevOps, product, and security stakeholders.

• At least eight (8) years of relevant experience.

• A degree from an accredited College/University in a relevant field is required; if the degree is not in a relevant field, four additional years of related experience is necessary.

• Special certifications (licenses and/or credentials) may be required at the Task Order level on a case-by-case basis.

• Typically performs all functional duties independently.
