AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Convert consulting workflows, business challenges, both structured and unstructured data, expert insights, and user requirements into effective AI prototypes and solutions.

• Collaborate with business experts, applied AI consultants, product owners, and stakeholders to comprehend workflows and pinpoint AI opportunities.

• Design and create AI prototypes, proof-of-concept models, and minimum viable products (MVPs).

• Develop prototype codebases, lightweight applications, APIs, prompts, retrieval workflows, agents, and evaluation scripts.

• Organize and prepare data, documents, knowledge sources, evaluation datasets, and workflow logic.

• Clean, structure, analyze, reconcile, and preprocess extensive structured and unstructured datasets.

• Implement privacy, security, transparency, human oversight, quality assessment, and responsible AI methodologies.

• Validate prototypes alongside stakeholders, domain experts, and end users.

• Refine prototypes based on feedback, testing results, user interactions, and workflow comprehension.

• Document assumptions, design choices, evaluation findings, limitations, and suggested next steps.

• Coordinate efforts with Property & Casualty stakeholders based in New York.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering from a recognized institution; equivalent technical training may be accepted if supported by robust software, data, and AI project experience.

• 1–3 years of pertinent experience, including internships, academic or coursework-related projects, personal AI projects, open-source contributions, or initial professional experience in AI, machine learning, software engineering, or data engineering.

• Proficient in Python.

• Strong working knowledge of Excel and R.

• Familiarity with SQL and fundamental software engineering practices.

• Experience in developing and maintaining data pipelines.

• Skilled in integrating, reconciling, and validating large and complex datasets.

• Experience in automating data preparation workflows and creating reproducible analytical datasets.

• Understanding of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation techniques, and agentic workflow concepts.

• Ability to comprehend business workflows and translate them into actionable AI solution designs.

• Practical expertise with modern AI tools and responsible AI applications.

• Strong communication abilities with non-technical stakeholders.

• A curious, problem-solving, and collaborative approach.

• Willingness to overlap with U.S. East Coast working hours at least part-time, based on project requirements.
