AI Development & Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance MCP servers that showcase Starfish's data management capabilities for LLM-driven workflows.

• Create intelligent agents capable of reasoning over large-scale storage metadata.

• Set up and configure local LLMs utilizing vLLM, Ollama, or similar technologies.

• Design workflow automation and chat-based interfaces for querying and interacting with Starfish data.

• Construct proof-of-concept implementations and evolve them into production-quality features.

• Assist customers with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AI features and integrations.

• Engage in discussions with technical teams to comprehend use cases and translate requirements into functional agents.

• Document technical insights and solutions.

• Alternate between intensive development tasks and customer debugging support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong understanding of agent architectures, prompt engineering, and MCP or tool-use methodologies.

• Practical experience with local/open-source LLMs: you have operated, fine-tuned, and deployed them.

• Proficient in Linux environments and adept at command-line debugging.

• Excellent communicator: you can articulate issues and their causes to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Over 2 years of Python development experience with real-world, deployed code.

• Experience with RAG pipelines or vector databases.

• Knowledge of REST APIs and integration strategies.

• Comfortable using Docker.

• Experience in storage systems or HPC environments is beneficial.
