Afrikaans/English OPI/VRI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Technical prerequisites: A dedicated high-speed, private, and secure internet connection; Minimum download speed of 20 Mbps (megabits per second); Minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps (megabits per second); Wired Internet connection, with an Ethernet Port (Wi-Fi is prohibited).

• Must use a minimum of Windows 10 operating system; Computers should have a dual-core, 2 GHz processor, such as an Intel Core i5 or higher; Minimum of 8 GB RAM memory.

• A single device (computer or laptop) capable of running the required systems is necessary. (External devices, like cell phones or tablets, are not allowed).

• Utilize a noise-cancelling, wired headset equipped with a built-in microphone (wireless/Bluetooth headphones are not permitted).

⛳️ Requirements

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarity with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry the interpreter operates in (specifically healthcare and medical).

• Ensure all messages are rendered accurately and completely, without any additions, omissions, or substitutions.

• Deliver the highest level of customer service during interpretation.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and Clients by providing accurate and complete interpretation of messages.

• Adhere to standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training.

• Show eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.
