This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide strategic leadership and executive direction to support the mission and long-term goals of the client organization.
• Collaborate with the Board to design, implement, and promote strategic priorities, objectives, and organizational initiatives.
• Act as a reliable advisor and impartial resource on California water issues, emerging trends, and policy advancements.
• Develop and present issue briefs, strategic recommendations, policy principles, and materials for executive-level discussions.
• Represent the organization in engagements with member agencies, industry associations, regulatory bodies, research institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Encourage collaboration and consensus-building among a variety of stakeholder groups.
• Lead Board and committee meetings, promoting engagement, productive dialogue, and effective decision-making.
• Ensure financial and operational sustainability through resource management and by identifying partnership, sponsorship, or funding opportunities.
• Represent the client organization at Board meetings, hearings, conferences, and industry events across California.
• Oversee and mentor a team while upholding quality standards and aligning with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategy.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to provide thought leadership on critical issues.
• Undertake additional assignments as necessitated by evolving organizational needs.
• A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in a relevant position.
• Extensive knowledge of California water resources, policy, and urban water management challenges.
• Strong relationships with government entities and stakeholders.
• Proven executive leadership and strategic planning abilities.
• Capability to influence, engage, and forge consensus among executive leaders, boards, member agencies, and external stakeholders.
• Experience presenting to boards, councils, executive committees, and industry leadership groups.
• Proficient facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and executive communication abilities.
• Skill in synthesizing complex technical, policy, and business information into clear recommendations and actionable insights.
• Strong understanding of organizational governance, strategic execution, and board relations.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, resource planning, and organizational sustainability.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt to shifting organizational demands.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound professional judgment and discretion.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical, business, or relevant field is preferred.
• Experience in the water industry, executive leadership experience, and a well-established network within California water.
• Willingness to attend Board and committee meetings and represent the client organization at meetings, hearings, and conferences throughout California.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
