This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +2 more states.
• Spearhead the creation and execution of NWAF’s Adult Family Home Program.
• Develop a strong and healthy portfolio of business loans for Adult Family Homes.
• Cultivate institutional knowledge regarding regulatory and compliance standards, as well as construction best practices, for Adult Family Homes and private construction projects.
• Raise community awareness about NWAF’s Adult Family Home Program.
• Design loan products and procedures that incorporate financial readiness, inclusive lending, risk management, and organizational sustainability.
• Offer personalized technical assistance and group training to loan applicants and entrepreneurs.
• Package, underwrite, and oversee loans for Adult Family Homes and other small businesses.
• Advise the Leadership Team on loan policies.
• Prepare regular program updates for the Board of Directors and funding partners.
• Foster connections with nonprofits, community lenders, manufacturers, contractors, and local agencies.
• Investigate regulatory, zoning, and permitting requirements across various jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with the Director of Lending and the lending team to lead program design and development.
• Formulate recommendations for loan terms, eligibility criteria, and program guidelines.
• Establish procedures that address financial readiness, affordability, accessibility, risk, and portfolio sustainability.
• Identify barriers to accessibility and compliance, and propose effective solutions.
• Build organizational knowledge regarding construction practices and associated costs.
• Develop a compliance framework that adheres to local, state, and federal housing regulations.
• Coordinate efforts with governmental bodies, permitting agencies, and contractors.
• Assist applicants with business planning, licensing, and operational requirements.
• Aid borrowers in preparing for construction and offer ongoing resource recommendations.
• Monitor program outcomes, including housing accessibility, borrower success, and the impact on asset building.
• Enhance products and improve program effectiveness using data and stakeholder feedback.
• Support the packaging and underwriting of home modification loans.
• Provide collaborative assistance to lending, financial coaching, outreach, and administrative teams.
• This is an experienced-level position.
• Previous experience in a CDFI, nonprofit lender, or housing organization is essential.
• Knowledge of Adult Family Home operations is required.
• Familiarity with construction practices is necessary.
• Experience in working one-on-one with entrepreneurs to develop and refine business plans is expected.
• Proven experience in underwriting small business and microenterprise loans is crucial.
• Multilingual abilities and/or experience working within culturally and linguistically diverse communities are advantageous.
• A valid driver's license is preferred.
• Reliable transportation is mandatory.
• Capability to work primarily at a desk and computer for extended periods is necessary.
• Availability to work occasional evenings to accommodate client schedules is required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally is expected.
• Candidates must reside in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho.
