This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Deliver expert accounting assistance to Food Banks Canada.
• Oversee accounts receivable operations.
• Reconcile company credit cards and secure monthly approvals from the VP of Finance.
• Endorse checks and conduct weekly bank deposits.
• Scan, arrange, print, and file deposit documentation on SharePoint.
• Prepare and send weekly batches to the Development Team.
• Enter approved revenue data into Business Central and verify it against Donor CRM.
• Retrieve daily bank feeds and report any suspicious corporate credit card transactions.
• Gather supporting documents for corporate card expenses, align them with purchase orders or authorizations, validate extensions, assign GL codes, and input the information into the accounting system.
• Apply HST/GST rebates and compute the corresponding amounts.
• Maintain electronic filing systems and CRA-required documentation for a minimum of 7 years.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and report any deficiencies to the Finance Manager.
• Coordinate weekly mail collection with the lockbox service provider.
• Safeguard, scan, organize, and appropriately redirect mail.
• Assist with annual and special audits.
• Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
• Completion of a post-secondary diploma program or equivalent in accounting.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an accounting role within a business or non-profit organization.
• Outstanding attention to detail and precision.
• Strong organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
• Self-motivated with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Clear and professional communicator.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Understanding of confidentiality and the ability to maintain it when dealing with sensitive information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with Business Central and Mission CRM is an advantage.
• Strong proofreading abilities.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is a plus.
• Must reside within 100 km of the Greater Toronto Area, ON.
