Adjunct Faculty – Sociology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Facilitate and instruct meaningful learning experiences that align with course outcomes in the curriculum.

• Actively support all aspects of the learning environment.

• Provide course instruction that adheres to the South University curriculum model and delivery style.

• Design and implement class instruction through instructional plans, learning activities, lesson objectives, and approved online course frameworks.

• Promote student proficiency, set performance criteria, and assess learning outcomes.

• Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning and encourages student participation.

• Plan and prepare thoroughly to ensure class effectiveness and student success.

• Champion student success through adaptability, enthusiasm for teaching, and active student engagement.

• Maintain precise records, timely submission of grades and reports, and adherence to academic and attendance policies.

• Connect professional, personal, and industry experiences to the learning process while staying informed about industry trends and opportunities.

• Engage in faculty development to improve skills in learner-centered instruction.

• Communicate consistently and effectively with supervisors, faculty, and administrative staff.

• Participate in curriculum committees, campus events such as orientation and graduation, workshops, and meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• For graduate programs, a terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in the relevant discipline, with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) is required.

• For undergraduate programs, a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the relevant discipline, with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) is required.

• Experience in instruction or a formal educational process, preferably within a post-secondary or college institution.

• Active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as required by the discipline.

• A minimum of six months of teaching experience at South University or another post-secondary institution is preferred, with online teaching experience being a plus (for online-only positions).

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to cultivate successful relationships with student populations.

• Strong conflict resolution capabilities.

• Excellent time management and attention to detail.

• Proficient computer skills (e.g., software, analytical, and report writing abilities).

• Experience with computerized learning environments.

• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Proven teaching effectiveness as demonstrated in previous teaching evaluations.
