Adjunct Faculty – Human Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Deliver an engaging learning experience in classroom, online, and/or lab settings under the guidance of the Dean of General Education.

• Utilize lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual aids, and technological resources to enhance instruction.

• Adhere to the prescribed curriculum and syllabus while actively engaging students.

• Foster a positive educational environment and articulate clear learning objectives.

• Achieve course and institutional student performance targets.

• Manage student behavior in both classroom and online environments.

• Observe and assess student performance effectively.

• Identify at-risk students and refer them to the Student Success Coordinator.

• Offer student advisement and academic guidance through tutoring and mentoring.

• Evaluate tests and projects, maintain grade records, track attendance, and handle administrative responsibilities.

• Conduct oral, written, or performance assessments.

• Engage in conferences, seminars, training sessions, educational in-services, distance education workshops, and professional development initiatives.

• Contribute to and participate in academic committees.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is required.

• At least 15 credit hours or equivalent in the relevant subject area is required.

• For candidates in Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia: a Master’s degree in the discipline OR a Master’s degree in any field with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework pertinent to the discipline.

• Two years of practical experience in the subject area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is in an unrelated field is required.

• A minimum of three years of experience as an educator is preferred.

• Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
