Adjunct American Sign Language Teacher – Teaching Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist instructional programs through both synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing utilizing Class Zoom.

• Evaluate assignments and deliver prompt, high-quality, individualized feedback.

• Maintain regular communication with students and educators to update pacing plans and schedules.

• Utilize data to track assignment completion and encourage student engagement.

• Examine curriculum and identify modifications for students needing IEP or 504 accommodations.

• Collaborate with colleagues and administrators on enrichment initiatives and differentiated lesson adjustments.

• Cultivate a general understanding of the curriculum alongside in-depth knowledge of assigned courses.

• Interact with students via phone, chat, and WebMail.

• Safeguard student well-being and personal information in compliance with FERPA and Copyright & Fair Use regulations.

• Maintain up-to-date records of student performance and participation by grading assessments and documenting student and parent interactions.

• Conduct regular office hours for a minimum of 3 hours each week.

• Leverage online communication tools to build rapport and support student success.

• Create a welcoming, supportive online community for students and their families.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be highly qualified and certified to teach American Sign Language.

• Possess a valid state teaching certificate in WA, TX, MI, or IN.

• Have completed a traditional teacher preparation program (not alternative certification) at an accredited college or university.

• Hold a Bachelor's degree.

• Ability to obtain certification in other states as needed.

• Provide timely feedback and evaluate assessments within the established timeframe.

• Attend bi-monthly check-in meetings with your supervisor or as scheduled.

• Capable of working efficiently in a dynamic environment that requires flexibility, prioritization, self-direction, and creativity.

• Familiarity with IEP/504 plans and their virtual application.

• Strong technological skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs or Google Apps is preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational capabilities.
