ACPE Certified Educator – Mission

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Manage and deliver educational content within the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program.

• Organize CPE units and work alongside chaplains to meet the spiritual care needs of patients, families, staff, and CPE students.

• Provide spiritual support and emotional care during times of illness, crisis, loss, and death.

• Foster cohesion among the chaplaincy team and ensure effective relational dynamics.

• Address performance issues of CPE students and implement disciplinary action plans as necessary.

• Facilitate effective communication between clinical leadership and the chaplaincy team.

• Engage in strategic planning, departmental initiatives, market planning, and committee involvement.

• Conduct group seminars and individual sessions for CPE units.

• Design and execute CPE units in alignment with ACPE standards and Catholic ethical guidelines.

• Recruit, schedule, and oversee both on-site and online CPE programs.

• Manage student admissions, orientation, clinical tasks, assignments, and performance evaluations.

• Establish and lead the Professional Advisory Group.

• Assist in accreditation/re-accreditation processes, curriculum design, program evaluation, financial sustainability, and overall program operations.

• Supervise CPE program finances and prepare the annual budget.

• Coordinate clinical placements and conduct necessary site visits.

• Maintain handbooks tailored to specific sites.

• Collaboratively mentor CPE students alongside staff chaplains.

• Direct marketing efforts for the CPE program, including advertising and student recruitment.

• Ensure accreditation standards are upheld and promote the development of CPE throughout the organization.

• Provide financial data related to Medicare reimbursement.

• Engage in ongoing education and uphold chaplain and ACPE certifications.

• Fulfill Chaplain III responsibilities as required.

• Execute other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• ACPE Certified Educator or Certified Educator Candidate (mandatory).

• Documentation of faith community endorsement from official representatives, demonstrating good standing according to the candidate’s faith or spiritual tradition (mandatory).

• Master’s degree in Theology or Pastoral Studies (mandatory).

• A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience as a Chaplain (mandatory).

• Master’s degree in Divinity (preferred).

• Doctoral degree in Theology, Ministry, or Philosophy (preferred).

• 1–2 years of experience in a leadership role (preferred).

• Completion of the Chaplain Leader Program (preferred).

• Familiarity with the Ethical and Religious Directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

• Ability to maintain certification in the certifying agency as both a chaplain and ACPE Certified Educator.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Capacity to provide pastoral support that respects patients’ cultures, values, and belief systems.

• Ability to teach diverse theology and ecclesiology.

• Competence in leading and coordinating prayer and worship services.

• Willingness to travel by car to off-site locations occasionally.

• Capability to perform shift work and fulfil specified physical and environmental requirements.
