Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Verify or secure eligibility and/or authorization through payer websites, client eligibility systems, or via phone communication.

• Update patient demographic details and insurance data within relevant systems.

• Investigate and track unpaid or denied claims.

• Monitor claims for absent information, authorization, and control numbers (ICN/DCN).

• Analyze EOBs for payments or adjustments to facilitate claim resolution.

• Communicate with payers through phone or written correspondence to obtain claim payments.

• Access client systems for payment, patient, claim, and data information.

• Adhere to guidelines for prioritization, timely filing deadlines, and notation procedures.

• Obtain medical documentation as required or requested by third-party insurance carriers.

• Uphold confidentiality of patient information in line with insurance collection guidelines and corporate policy.

• Carry out other related responsibilities as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in medical collections or billing.

• Fundamental understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NCCI.

• Basic familiarity with third-party billing guidelines.

• Basic knowledge of billing claim forms (UB04/1500).

• Basic understanding of payor contracts.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Basic working knowledge of health information systems (e.g., EMR, Claim Scrubbers, Patient Accounting Systems).

• Preferred: Familiarity with one or more patient accounting systems such as EPIC, Cerner, STAR, Meditech, CPSI, Invision, PBAR, All Scripts, or Paragon.

• Preferred: Practical knowledge of the DDE Medicare claim system.

• Preferred: Awareness of government rules and regulations.
