This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee patient, client, and insurance billing processes for the medical facility.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of third-party payer billing regulations and guidelines.
• Confirm financial and demographic data accuracy.
• Properly apply allowances, discounts, and co-payments.
• Process insurance payments using the computerized system.
• Secure prior authorizations and conduct patient benefit investigations.
• Reach out to accounts, physicians, or patients to gather any missing billing information.
• Re-submit bills to insurance companies or other third parties to ensure payment.
• Assist in training staff on the computerized billing system.
• Follow department Standard Operating Procedures diligently.
• Address patient/client billing and statement inquiries via phone or mail.
• Obtain and send invoice copies upon request.
• Research and handle customer claims regarding invoice payments.
• Respond to accounts receivable phone inquiries and follow up with patients/clients.
• Identify overpayments from insurance or patients and submit refund requests.
• Investigate insurance denials to enhance reimbursement opportunities.
• Take on additional responsibilities during staff shortages.
• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Capability to compose simple correspondence.
• Skill in effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Proficiency in performing basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.
• Capacity to apply common-sense reasoning to written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Ability to manage problems involving several concrete variables in standardized scenarios.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows, medical record software, and MS Office.
• Proficient data entry skills at a rate of 40–50 words per minute.
• Basic understanding of standard office equipment.
