Accounting Manager – Fixed Assets, Capital Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive accounting for Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E), intangible assets, Construction in Progress (CIP), and Leasehold Improvements.

• Monitor facility construction projects, capitalization timing, tenant improvement allowances, and amortization schedules.

• Take ownership of internal-use software capitalization in accordance with ASC 350-40.

• Manage the global corporate lease accounting portfolio as per ASC 842 guidelines.

• Reconcile monthly Right-of-Use assets and liabilities.

• Ensure precise financial statement presentation and treatment of the Statement of Cash Flows.

• Collaborate with Technical Accounting on impairment assessments and valuation reviews.

• Develop and enhance scalable capital accounting processes.

• Create cross-functional asset discovery protocols in partnership with IT, Engineering, Facilities, and Procurement.

• Draft, revise, and enforce policies related to capital assets, software capitalization, and lease accounting.

• Provide guidance on CAPEX versus OPEX to cross-functional business partners.

• Assess fixed asset, lease accounting, and asset-tracking systems while automating workflows.

• Engage in special projects, system enhancements, technical accounting implementation, and close optimization initiatives.

• Own and implement SOX controls concerning fixed assets, lease accounting, and capitalized software.

• Lead physical inventory counts and programs for fixed asset verification.

• Act as the primary technical liaison for external auditors.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6 to 8+ years of progressively responsible corporate accounting experience.

• Minimum of 4+ years of dedicated responsibility for fixed assets, CAPEX, leasehold improvements, capitalized software, and lease accounting (ASC 842) in a pre-IPO or public company setting.

• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 360, ASC 350-40, and ASC 842.

• Thorough understanding of how capital assets affect the Statement of Cash Flows.

• Direct experience in accounting for real estate transactions, facility construction, leasehold improvement amortization, tenant improvement allowances, and agile software development capitalization.

• Senior Manager or Manager level expertise with autonomy, confidence, and executive presence.

• Proven history of designing, documenting, and executing SOX internal controls, as well as leading audits for physical asset existence and completeness.

• Practical experience in operating and implementing specialized fixed asset and lease management modules within Tier-1 ERPs such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA certification required.

• Industry experience in hardware, consumer technology, software, manufacturing, or capital-intensive sectors is highly preferred.
