This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the organization’s accounting system, ensuring all company transactions and assets are accurately recorded.
• Prepare and organize monthly financial statements and board materials for review.
• Continuously update cash flow and annual forecasts in the financial statements to reflect projections for the next 12 months.
• Handle monthly General Ledger transactions and journals, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset journals.
• Regularly review and update program forecasts and actuals in collaboration with program leaders.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Review monthly time reports and post monthly overhead allocation journal entries.
• Collect and scan mail weekly from the PO Box.
• Enter monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) transactions using QuickBooks and Bill.com.
• Approve Daily Positive Pay transactions with Enterprise Bank.
• Reconcile and process monthly transactions from CO to NCO.
• Download and reconcile monthly bank transactions and statements in QuickBooks.
• Manage and process company credit card expenses and payment operations.
• Prepare the annual budget.
• Coordinate and assist the external audit firm during the annual audit and tax preparation.
• Manage subcontractor and grant contracts.
• Oversee and maintain annual partnership contracts.
• Prepare monthly affiliate and partner invoices and handle collections.
• Process bi-weekly payroll and input reports into QuickBooks.
• Prepare 1099 forms.
• Train and onboard new employees in SAP Concur and Harvest Time Sheets.
• Provide ad hoc financial and business analysis, along with other ad hoc duties as needed (for example, PPP loan applications, ERTC credits, IRS correspondence, and MO & IL Company Annual Returns).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including work in a nonprofit setting involving contracts and grants.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks) and the MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively.
• Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and integrity.
