This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Manage general ledger operations, which include journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
• Ensure consistency in the chart of accounts throughout the organization.
• Review and authorize journal entries and reconciliations created by team members.
• Prepare and present monthly financial statements along with supporting schedules.
• Analyze discrepancies between actual results, budget forecasts, and previous periods; provide insights and recommendations.
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors; coordinate audit timelines, requests, and necessary documentation.
• Design, implement, and oversee internal controls to maintain compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.
• Assist in tax preparation alongside external advisors.
• Support regulatory reporting related to TPA/benefits administration.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for ERP systems; drive automation and process enhancements.
• Collaborate across functions to improve system integrations and reporting capabilities.
• Supervise and mentor accounting personnel and the Accounts Payable team; offer coaching and performance evaluations.
• Work in conjunction with Operations, Client Services, and Technology teams to address and resolve issues.
• Assist with investor reporting and strategic financial initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred (consideration given to Finance or related fields).
• An active CPA license is mandatory.
• A minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting is required.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Advanced skills in Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling).
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP) is essential.
• Previous experience in public accounting or auditing is preferred.
• Experience in high-growth or technology-driven environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial tools is required.
