Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the month-end closing process for various legal entities, guaranteeing timely and precise completion.

• Evaluate journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger analyses for thoroughness and accuracy.

• Ensure that transactions are accurately recorded and allocated among legal entities in compliance with accounting and regulatory standards.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS standards.

• Take ownership of the regulatory reporting calendar, ensuring that all filings with the NFA, CFTC, and other regulatory bodies are correct and submitted punctually.

• Stay updated on regulatory changes and proactively evaluate their impact on our reporting and accounting practices.

• Assist with external audits and support statutory reporting and tax compliance efforts.

• Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls (including SOX) throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with the Finance team to comprehend budgets and forecasts, offering accounting insights and ensuring alignment between actual results and planned figures.

• Work closely with business stakeholders to anticipate operational and product changes and ensure they are accurately reflected in the financial statements.

• Partner with Shared Services on transactional accounting and with Technical Accounting on complex or non-routine transactions.

• Identify and implement process improvements within accounting workflows to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

• Mentor and develop team members, contributing to the establishment of a high-performing accounting function.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, showcasing responsibility for closing processes and financial statement preparation.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP; knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.

• Experience in financial markets, trading environments, or regulated industries (such as broker-dealers, exchanges, commodities, or gaming) is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with NFA/CFTC regulations or similar regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in advanced Excel and data analysis; experience with financial systems and ERP platforms is preferred.

• Keen attention to detail with the capacity to manage conflicting deadlines across multiple entities.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, accounting, and business teams.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment and to proactively navigate through ambiguity.
