Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily accounting functions and develop the Staff Accountant role.

• Review and authorize the work of the Accounting Analyst, including accounts payable processing, cash reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Prepare and evaluate complex journal entries, which include stock-based compensation, ASC 842 lease accounting, and cost/expense allocations.

• Create and establish inventory and manufacturing accounting processes from inception.

• Develop inventory accounting and costing throughout the entire production chain, from raw materials to delivery to farmer customers.

• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial statements.

• Prepare and assess balance sheet reconciliations and flux analyses.

• Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting policies, while supporting external auditors.

• Lead initiatives for process improvement and automation utilizing AI tools and systems such as NetSuite, Ramp, and Zip.

• Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and cross-functional teams on accruals, allocations, and reporting.

• Mentor the Accounting Analyst as the team expands.

• Manage the travel and expense program, refine the expense policy, and audit transactions and card activities for compliance, coding accuracy, and fraud risk.

• Report directly to the Controller.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Over 5 years of progressive experience in accounting.

• Strong proficiency in NetSuite, Ramp, and Zip (or similar procurement/AP automation platforms).

• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting principles.

• A self-starter and first-principles thinker who is comfortable building processes from the ground up and addressing root causes rather than symptoms.

• Preferred: Experience with Big 4 or public accounting.

• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

• Preferred: Background in manufacturing and/or inventory accounting.

• Preferred: Proven track record of leveraging AI tools and process automation to transform accounting workflows.
