This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Take charge of the entire accounting cycle, which encompasses general ledger activities, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and the monthly/annual closing process.
• Generate precise and timely financial statements along with ad hoc reports for the CFO, executive team, board members, and investors.
• Oversee GAAP compliance, ensuring adherence to ASC 606 revenue recognition across various contract types.
• Manage accounting and compliance for government contracts, including the maintenance of a DCAA-compliant accounting system, oversight of indirect rates, annual incurred cost submissions, contract billing, and project-level financial monitoring.
• Spearhead the transition from a shared services model to an independent finance and accounting function.
• Develop, document, and execute accounting processes and controls for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, closing calendars, and approval workflows.
• Facilitate the integration of sales projections and task-level time-tracking systems into a cohesive financial ecosystem.
• Construct interim reporting and reconciliation tools during system implementation.
• Lead the selection and deployment of a government-contract-capable ERP system.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensure readiness for audits.
• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and cash management practices.
• Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to support strategic planning.
• Review contracts to ensure correct revenue recognition.
• Support M&A integration activities.
• Contribute to materials for the board and private equity reporting packages.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with progressive responsibility for the closing process.
• B2B SaaS experience is highly preferred, especially familiarity with subscription revenue, ARR, and deferred revenue mechanics.
• Experience within a government contracting environment is strongly preferred, including knowledge of DCAA-compliant accounting, indirect rates, or incurred cost submissions.
• Proven experience in building or significantly restructuring accounting processes and systems at a small or growing company, or a key role in an ERP implementation.
• Ability to design workflows instead of merely operating within existing frameworks.
• A hands-on operator who is comfortable managing the function as a solo department.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606.
• Familiarity with government-contract-capable ERPs such as Deltek Costpoint or similar is strongly preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and QuickBooks Online is valued.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering accurate and timely financial reports.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA certification is mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, professional demeanor when working with executives, auditors, contracting officers, and cross-functional teams.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
