This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise all revenue accounting functions in accordance with ASC 606, which includes revenue recognition, deferred revenue management, MRR reconciliation, and oversight of billing processes.
• Evaluate and authorize sales orders in NetSuite to guarantee appropriate revenue handling and compliance with contract stipulations.
• Oversee the billing terminations workflow within NetSuite and Salesforce, ensuring prompt processing of contract cancellations and relevant credit memos.
• Act as the primary technical advisor for the Billing team regarding ASC 606 inquiries and intricate revenue situations.
• Collaborate with teams from Billing, Legal, and Customer Success on contract evaluations and revenue classification for non-standard agreements.
• Lead the revenue closing procedure, ensuring all revenue is recognized accurately and promptly each month.
• Aid in accounts receivable reconciliation, allowance for doubtful accounts (AFDA), and other month-end closing tasks.
• Oversee and mentor the Billing Manager, offering guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Contribute to the enhancement of billing processes and best practices to boost efficiency and precision.
• Promote a cooperative team atmosphere focused on ongoing improvement.
• Provide backup support for payroll processing as necessary, including semi-monthly payroll in Paylocity.
• Assist with benefits reconciliations (Aflac, Hartford, FSA, HSA, Cigna, Fidelity, etc.) when required.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in the absence of the primary payroll specialist.
• Support month-end closing activities, including revenue closing, AR reconciliation, and journal entries.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Assist with audit inquiries and act as a liaison to external auditors on revenue-related issues as necessary.
• Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process enhancements as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based software company is essential, with a solid understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• A background in public accounting is preferred.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Paylocity is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable utilizing AI tools to enhance efficiency in accounting and billing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop direct reports.
• Strong technical accounting skills with keen attention to detail and the capacity to research complex accounting issues.
• Excellent communication abilities, with the capability to collaborate across departments and explain technical accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
