Accountant, Germany focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Assist with month-end and year-end closures for German entities, including journal entries and accounting analysis.

• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheets and facilitate their review.

• Follow up with vendors regarding missing invoices and formulate cost accruals for P&L examination.

• Manage payments and bank transfers, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.

• Reconcile transactions between companies.

• Prepare German VAT submissions and assist with payroll tax filings in collaboration with the payroll provider and tax advisor.

• Support the preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with HGB, as well as statutory audits and tax filings.

• Maintain essential controls and procedures; streamline outdated processes and ledgers.

• Prepare and validate financial KPIs and reporting metrics.

• Assist with monthly variance analysis in relation to budget and forecast.

• Collaborate with the finance team on daily operations, reporting, and special initiatives.

• Report directly to the Director of Finance/Head of Finance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with direct involvement in German accounting (HGB) and German tax regulations.

• Experience within the software/SaaS sector.

• Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.

• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.

• Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken).

• Residing in Europe and authorized to work in your country of residence.
