This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Prepare and record journal entries, including intricate transactions.
• Reconcile bank accounts along with other balance sheet accounts.
• Generate compiled financial statements and tailored client reports.
• Maintain schedules for fixed assets, encompassing depreciation and amortization.
• Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with year-end accounting tasks and financial reporting processes.
• Prepare and file payroll tax documents and payment vouchers.
• Investigate payroll tax regulations and registrations across different jurisdictions.
• Address payroll tax notices and communications from tax authorities.
• Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and corporations of moderate complexity.
• Assist in tax planning and forecasting tax liabilities.
• Identify opportunities for tax savings and communicate recommendations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounting, payroll, and tax clients.
• Review trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets for accuracy.
• Prepare adjusting and reclassification journal entries as needed.
• Review reconciliations, loan activities, and fixed asset transactions.
• Assist clients in resolving accounting, tax, and operational issues.
• Foster relationships with business owners, managers, and stakeholders.
• Maintain and provide support for client accounting software systems.
• Assist with software implementation, upgrades, and troubleshooting tasks.
• Train client staff on the use of accounting and payroll software.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive charts of accounts.
• Update and verify records for vendors and customers.
• Mentor and assist junior accounting team members.
• Support training and onboarding initiatives.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional team culture.
• Associate's degree in Accounting or a relevant field is required.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and financial reporting.
• Experience in preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and compliance with payroll tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software applications.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
• Capability to analyze financial statements and identify potential issues.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical competencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
