This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Complete the necessary tutor training and onboarding before starting to provide tutoring services.
• Prepare for and conduct individual and/or group tutoring sessions.
• Assist currently enrolled IllinoisCOM students with strategies for academic success.
• Clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and aid students in solving specific problems.
• Record tutoring attendance and services using the specified system.
• Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of examinations, student information, and course materials.
• Implement study techniques that cater to various learning needs, styles, and preferences.
• Create a professional and welcoming environment that respects students' diverse backgrounds, cultures, language skills, and experiences.
• Utilize active listening, questioning, inquiry, curiosity, and collaborative learning to assess needs, track progress, and facilitate problem-solving.
• Engage in professional development and leverage feedback and reflection to enhance practice.
• Communicate with students in a direct and supportive manner.
• Provide assistance with equipment, learning objects, and materials essential for student success.
• Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate.
• Report to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
• Must be a currently enrolled and in good standing second-, third-, or fourth-year student at an accredited MD or DO granting medical school.
• Proven proficiency in each course or subject area the applicant intends to tutor, as demonstrated through coursework, academic performance, faculty recommendations, or other documentation requested by IllinoisCOM.
• Must maintain good academic and professional standing throughout the duration of employment.
• Demonstrated mastery of the subject area, supported by relevant coursework, professional experience, faculty recommendations, or other credentials approved by IllinoisCOM.
• Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, facilitation, or academic support is preferred.
• Capability to provide virtual tutoring from a private, professional setting with reliable internet access and suitable audio and video capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion and uphold confidentiality regarding sensitive and privileged information.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage professional and interpersonal relationships and engage effectively with diverse members of the institutional community and external constituencies.
• Proficiency in data entry and usage of the required database system.
