Academic and Finance Advisor I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee student caseload and fulfill daily responsibilities using the Roadrunner System, Student Portfolio Report, or various other tools.

• Proactively identify and assist at-risk students, offer early interventions, and connect them with resources for success.

• Monitor student degree plans, course schedules, and academic progress to ensure adherence to University policies and Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.

• Provide guidance to students regarding financial aid requirements, university policies, and modifications to their course of study.

• Track student account balances, recommend lockouts or dismissals when appropriate, and aid in collection efforts.

• Professionally support escalated student cases and convey University communications effectively.

• Engage in team meetings, training sessions, departmental initiatives, and special projects.

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance while fulfilling additional assigned responsibilities.

• Communicate with students via calls, emails, texts, and chats to offer academic and financial assistance throughout their educational journey.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in advising, customer service, or a related field is required.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Experience in student services or training and development within a collegial environment is preferred.

• Experience in a fast-paced customer or student-focused role is preferred.

• Familiarity with higher education settings and technology-driven enterprises is preferred.

• Understanding of academic and business practices within an online university context.

• Awareness of University policies, procedures, and updates.

• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage conflicts, de-escalate issues, and communicate professionally across all channels.

• A solution-oriented mindset while adhering to University and federal regulations.

• Knowledge of financial aid programs, the FDCP Act, and common payment practices.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all interactions and documentation.

• Proficient in written communication, report creation, and utilization of technology for online engagement.

• A collaborative team player.

• Knowledge of and alignment with the University’s mission, vision, and goals.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Must be eligible for access to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
