1099 Contractor – Commercial Refrigeration Technician, Installation & Repairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Deliver advanced assistance for both warranty and non-warranty technical requirements across all AHT product lines and services.

• Carry out installations, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial refrigeration units at client sites.

• Address intricate technical product challenges.

• Serve as a liaison to Product Management concerning design and application enhancements.

• Maintain a high level of proficiency in company products and services, including installation, programming, and equipment protocols.

• Stay highly skilled in specified third-party products and services.

• Diagnose and resolve heat pump issues while minimizing operational downtime.

• Create work instructions and technical product documentation for both AHT and third-party products and services.

• Contribute knowledgebase materials for reference purposes.

• Review Customer Service project scopes, store layouts, diagrams, and specifications.

• Assess and recommend alternative components.

• Collaborate with contractors to ensure that stores comply with operational standards.

• Design and implement technical training modules for internal and external audiences, including progress metrics, participation tracking, pass/fail analysis, and certification protocols.

• Adjust System CX and propose software and parameter modifications for efficient functionality.

• Conduct or oversee system energy analysis for optimal performance.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s (AA) degree or equivalent from a two-year college, technical school, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• 5-7 years of relevant HVAC/R experience and/or training with HFC & Co2.

• R290 experience is advantageous.

• Certification in the use and handling of refrigerants is preferred.

• Capability to read, comprehend, and utilize assembly drawings and wiring diagrams.

• Competence in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electromechanical components.

• Ability to observe necessary ESD precautions with sensitive electronic hardware.

• Familiarity with hand tools, refrigeration tools including evacuation pumps and glycol, and standard supermarket maintenance tools.

• Proficient in using computer and software tools to adjust parameters and diagnose issues.

• Proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and IBM Notes email applications is required.

• Experience with SAP is a plus.

• Must be flexible to work varying schedules daily based on client availability.

• Up to 90% overnight travel is required.

• A valid driver’s license in the state of residency is mandatory.

• A valid passport or the ability to obtain one immediately is required.

• Demonstrated experience in commercial refrigeration service and installation.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and customer service skills.

• Reliable transportation is necessary.

• Willingness to travel throughout assigned regions in Florida.

• Must supply personal tools and equipment.

• Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and scheduling.

• Ability to meet specified physical requirements.
