This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Foster a robust collaborative relationship with the physician advisor, functioning as a cohesive team to assist the applicant throughout the application journey.
• Aid applicants in reorganizing content while ensuring that their responses and essays exhibit a logical and cohesive flow.
• Offer suggestions and thought-provoking questions to guide applicants in developing their content.
• Edit materials for clarity, tone, and syntax to enhance readability.
• Proofread documents for grammatical accuracy and appropriate word choice.
• Address inquiries regarding the writing process for various materials.
• Provide constructive and actionable feedback to applicants.
• Cultivate a supportive atmosphere for applicants during the application process.
• Assist medical school candidates with personal statements, activities sections, secondary applications, and other related materials.
• Execute multiple revisions of application documents, typically ranging from two to three revisions.
• Ensure consistent availability throughout the busy season from March to September.
• Bachelor's degree in the humanities or a major focused heavily on writing.
• A Master's degree in the humanities or a writing-intensive field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in education, including roles such as university teaching or teaching assistant positions, ELA teaching for grades 9-12, ELA or writing tutoring, K-12 paraprofessional/instructional assistant roles, or ELA curriculum development.
• At least 2 years of experience in a writing-intensive position, including editing, grant writing, journalism, or content writing.
• A reliable internet connection is essential.
• Access to Microsoft Word is required.
• A genuine passion for education and a commitment to assisting students in their medical school applications.
• An innate ability to teach and guide others.
