Narrative Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Create engaging dialogue and narrative sequences that enhance the relationship between characters and their surroundings.

• Craft a compelling storyline that delves into the relationship between the physical landscape and the protagonist’s psychological journey.

• Contribute to a universe where the environments of two interconnected realms reflect each other in both overt and enigmatic ways.

• Work collaboratively with designers, artists, programmers, and narrative team members to seamlessly integrate the storyline with gameplay, role-play elements, and skill-based challenges inspired by TTRPG mechanics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in writing for video games, particularly in RPGs or interactive fiction. Experience in creative writing or screenwriting is also highly regarded.

• Ability to craft narratives that investigate themes of psychogeography, human psychology, and the darker aspects of society.

• Skill in developing environments that mirror the character’s internal experiences, exploring the connections between space, mood, and psychology.

• Interest in cosmic enigmas, existential inquiries, and philosophical themes related to society, power dynamics, and individual purpose.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a creative team, accepting feedback positively and contributing to the collective vision of the project.

• Familiarity with narrative-rich RPGs.

• Experience in designing non-combat gameplay loops centered around storytelling, exploration, and character growth.

• Understanding of TTRPG-inspired mechanics such as dialogue systems, dice-based challenges, or psychological skill frameworks.

• Experience writing in mediums beyond video games.
