Workday Payroll Consulting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

• Review work, mentor consultants, and facilitate knowledge transfer within an AMS delivery model.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5+ years of demonstrated experience in implementing, configuring, or supporting Workday Payroll, with hands-on responsibility in a production or post-production (AMS) setting.

• Functional subject matter expertise in Workday Payroll, covering payroll configuration, processing, calculations, tax setup, garnishments, integrations, and compliance activities.

• Practical post-production support experience, including the resolution of complex payroll issues, root cause analysis, and sustainable solutions within a client-facing context.

• 5+ years of experience in analyzing payroll and business requirements, crafting functional specifications, supporting testing processes, resolving production issues, and collaborating with client payroll, HR, and finance teams.

• Strong grasp of North American payroll operations, including U.S. payroll processes, tax regulations, payroll calendars, year-end activities, garnishments, and compliance obligations.

• Experience in optimization, enhancements, release management, and issue resolution in an AMS, PPS, or managed support framework.

• Proven experience leading client discussions, offering strategic guidance, and advising on payroll-related business processes and Workday best practices.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Current Workday Payroll Certification is preferred.

• Experience providing support for Workday Payroll in AMS, PPS, or Managed Services settings, including Tier 3 production support is preferred.

• Familiarity with Workday Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, Compensation, or Integrations is preferred.

• Strong understanding of Workday release management, feature adoption, and impact analysis for Payroll functionality is preferred.

• Experience managing medium to large-scale Workday Payroll environments with complex organizational structures, multiple pay groups, and regulatory requirements is preferred.

• Prior experience in team leadership or mentoring is preferred.

• Consulting experience within a professional services organization serving multiple clients concurrently is preferred.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and client relationship skills are preferred.

• No travel is required unless specifically requested by the client.
