Warehouse Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify, assess, pilot, and implement new technologies for warehouse automation.

• Lead smaller RFP projects and assist in larger RFP initiatives through the selection and validation of automation solutions.

• Create ROI analyses and business justifications for the chosen solutions.

• Assist in presentations alongside the Lead Automation Solutions Engineer.

• Detect gaps in vendor FSD/SOW documentation utilizing the FSD Checklist process.

• Validate designs of automation solutions for both implementation and operational performance.

• Evaluate designs in terms of clearance, power needs, cost efficiency, and SLA objectives.

• Assist in vendor technology assessments and requests for pricing.

• Oversee smaller implementation projects, including punch lists and project timelines.

• Monitor implementation milestones, requirements, and project financials.

• Participate in implementation status meetings and facilitate communication between vendor and onsite staff.

• Aid in onsite Solution Acceptance Testing and post-launch hypercare.

• Analyze dashboard and systems data, and evaluate reports from technology control systems and WMS/WES.

• Develop pilot initiatives and hypotheses, define proofs of concept, coordinate teams and approvals, assess vendors, and establish pilot timelines.

• Roll out acceptable pilots and communicate value justification to senior management and cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate with vendors to resolve Priority 1–5 automation issues and participate in resolution discussions.

• Review team strategy with the manager and establish personal objectives.

• Validate expenditures with the manager and assist in tracking project budgets.

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study.

• A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in warehouse automation.

• Background in warehouse automation, ideally including sortation conveyors, goods-to-person systems, autonomous vehicles/robots, or ASRS systems.

• Basic experience in automation, management consulting, or physical and process robotics.

• Fundamental understanding of warehouse management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, warehouse types, and Lean methodologies.

• Intermediate knowledge of material handling equipment and automation types, such as forklift applications, racking designs, packaging devices, and automation design.

• Basic familiarity with CAD, slotting, MOST, simulation, WMS, and labor management; experience with network design tools and data visualization software is an advantage.

• Background in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge of warehouse operations.

• Exceptional skills in planning, time management, collaboration, decision-making, organization, and presentation.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Ability to foster and maintain professional relationships across various organizational levels.

• Proven success in assessing, developing, and implementing new offerings or incremental enhancements.

• Willingness to travel 30–40% of the time.
