Warehouse Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify, assess, pilot, and implement new technologies for warehouse automation.

• Assist in RFPs and new business initiatives by selecting and validating automation technologies.

• Create ROI analyses and business justifications for the selection of solutions.

• Aid in presentations, vendor technology evaluations, and requests for quotes.

• Verify vendor FSD/SOW documents and identify any contractual discrepancies.

• Review automation designs considering implementation aspects, clearance, power requirements, cost efficiency, and SLA targets.

• Manage smaller implementation projects, which includes project planning, milestones, requirements, and punch lists.

• Participate in implementation status meetings and facilitate communication between vendors and onsite staff.

• Assist with onsite Solution Acceptance Testing and provide support during the post-go-live hypercare phase.

• Analyze data from dashboards, technology controls, WMS, and WES to enhance system performance.

• Collaborate with vendors to address Priority 1–5 automation performance issues.

• Develop pilot hypotheses, proof-of-concept plans, teams, locations, necessary approvals, vendor evaluations, and timelines.

• Coordinate value justification efforts with senior management and cross-functional teams.

• Review team strategies with the manager, establish personal goals, confirm expenditures, and support budget monitoring.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering, or warehouse systems integration (preferred).

• At least 2 years of proven experience in warehouse automation.

• Familiarity with warehouse automation, ideally involving sortation conveyors, goods-to-person systems, autonomous vehicles/robots, or ASRS.

• Experience in automation, management consulting, and physical/process robotics.

• Understanding of warehouse management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, warehouse types, and Lean methodologies.

• Knowledge of material handling equipment and types of automation, including forklift applications, racking designs, packaging devices, and automation design.

• Experience with tools for warehouse design such as CAD, slotting, MOST, simulation, WMS, and labor management; familiarity with network design tools and data visualization software is a bonus.

• Industrial or Mechanical Engineering expertise or equivalent knowledge of warehouse operations.

• Financial business case analysis experience is preferred.

• Strong skills in planning, time management, collaboration, decision-making, organization, and presentation.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Capacity to build professional relationships across various organizational levels.

• Willingness to travel 30–40% of the time.
