This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Maintain and enhance the overall ledger framework and chart of accounts alongside Strategic Projects.
• Lead the accounting for legal entities, consolidation, and intercompany processes across various reporting bases.
• Oversee foreign exchange translations, cash flow statements, and accounting for related parties.
• Manage the development of account hierarchies and ensure policy-compliant execution of journal entries.
• Prepare SUM and assist with the SAB 99 process in collaboration with Financial Reporting and Financial Controls.
• Establish and uphold control procedures, reconciliations, and associated controls.
• Support new transactions, debt issuances, and evolving business requirements through accurate financial reporting.
• Supervise operational accounting functions including record-to-report (R2R), accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel and expenses (T&E), third-party administration (TPA), corporate expenses, debt, and cash management.
• Oversee quarterly ledger feeds, configure new accounts, and manage legal entity allocations.
• Drive the development and submission of Sidecar accounting packages.
• Ensure alignment of accounting policies across operational entries.
• Coordinate approvals and collaborate with Treasury to settle intercompany balances on a monthly basis.
• Identify opportunities to enhance, automate, and standardize processes.
• Monitor the execution of Prudential and Heritage ledger feeds and manage new account setup processes.
• Assess and implement financial systems, technologies, and AI tools.
• Propel process standardization and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee transparency and readiness for audits.
• Lead and mentor accounting professionals while fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
• Advocate for continuous improvement, automation, and accountability.
• Report directly to the Insurance & Group Controller.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA designation is preferred.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
• Public accounting experience is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of Life & Annuity (re)insurance accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, US STAT, SFS, and EBS accounting rules and requirements.
• Proficient in financial software, ERP systems such as SAP and Workday, as well as AI tools like Foundry and Claude.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet stringent deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with audits, walkthroughs, and enhancing controls.
• Oversight of external vendors.
• Preferred experience in automation, AI, and systems implementation.
