VP of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the composition of the team and the structure of pods as the engineering organization expands.

• Take responsibility for security outcomes within the team.

• Assume accountability for infrastructure and data-related decisions throughout the stack.

• Serve as the engineering representative to department heads.

• Manage the intake and prioritization process across departments.

• Suggest headcount strategies and role sequencing for the CEO's approval.

• Handle incident escalation from the initial alert to resolution.

• Collaborate on product prioritization alongside product leads.

• Report directly to the CEO.

• Represent engineering interests to the leadership team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as mentioned in the posting.

• At least 6 years in leadership roles within engineering.

• Proven experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Head of Engineering at a product-focused company.

• Prior hands-on software engineering experience in earlier career stages.

• Strong background in backend systems or full-stack development with a backend focus, covering platforms, infrastructure, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies.

• Demonstrated track record of building and scaling an engineering organization in a startup or scaleup environment, including hiring, forming pods, and establishing processes.

• Comfortable in representing engineering to the CEO and non-engineering department leaders.

• Experience in managing cross-department intake and prioritization.

• Bonus: Experience in marketplace, SaaS, creator economy, adtech, or payments sectors.

• Bonus: Familiarity with trust & safety or fraud prevention initiatives.

• Bonus: Experience with security compliance, including SOC 2 or penetration testing.
