VP, AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead Engine’s AI Platform as a founding Vice President.

• Develop technical strategy, engage in hands-on work during the initial phase, and expand the organization through a Director and principal engineers.

• Collaborate with leaders in Applied AI and Workforce Transformation as part of The Triad to prioritize the enterprise AI roadmap and address cross-domain decisions.

• Take responsibility for the LLM gateway, agent framework, prompt and agent libraries, and evaluation infrastructure.

• Oversee the developer experience and the Velocity program, which includes the AI harness, coding agents, testing, autonomy frameworks, and coverage gates.

• Transform product operations to be AI-native software with measured cadences, automated reporting, gap analysis, and the PD maturity scorecard.

• Manage shared automation engineering, APIs, orchestration, and integrations.

• Direct AI data infrastructure encompassing retrieval and RAG, context pipelines, evaluation datasets, agent memory, and usage telemetry.

• Implement observability, security, and cost controls for the platform AI in collaboration with Security and IT.

• Sustain a unified enterprise-wide AI platform without parallel stacks.

• Expand the platform organization across agent platform, infrastructure, evaluation, observability, security, and developer experience.

• Achieve live, adopted platform rails, established Velocity baselines, autonomy pathways, a flagship platform capability, security and cost controls, and an effective Triad rhythm within the first six months.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software or platform engineering.

• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or organizations.

• 8+ years of experience in building platforms or infrastructure relied upon by other teams.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with production AI/ML, including LLMs, agents, and evaluation.

• Proven experience in building and managing shared platforms utilized by multiple teams.

• Background in making build-versus-buy and architectural decisions that shape an engineering organization.

• Hands-on expertise with LLMs, agents, orchestration, evaluation, latency, cost, reliability, and safety.

• Capability to personally architect and deliver core platform services.

• Experience partnering with executive peers on technical strategy and fostering cross-functional alignment.

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, assess, and nurture senior engineering talent.

• Proficient in integrating security, privacy, and safe-use controls into AI infrastructure by default.
